Golden-Pink Sunset Rose - 20″ High X 14″ Wide X 12″ Deep - $150,000
Alabaster is the only material on the planet that truly describes Roses that look like they’re blowing in the wind. In no other stone can you find reflected the softness, color and translucency of a Rose. In my thirty-three years as a professional Alabaster carver, I have carved nineteen Alabaster Roses. People do walk up to smell them! Alabaster and Rose are a perfect match of material and form.
This “Golden-Pink Sunset Rose” is the newest, the most technically extreme of them all and is carved from the very rarest of translucent pink and green Alabasters.
The “Golden-Pink Sunset Rose” will debut and be showcased at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Club Show in Tucson, Arizona from February 12th to 15th at the Tucson Convention Center. Dimensionally this piece is 20″ High X 14″ Wide X 12″ Deep. It is priced at $150,000.00. It must be hand delivered.
The Dilemma - 57" High X 17" Wide X 40" Long - $30,000
He represents one of the essences of the human condition - being caught on the horns thereof. My personal actual dilemma in this instance was trying to figure out exactly what a 'Dilemma' might look like. Don't get me wrong. I've got plenty of dilemmas but none that usually come into sharp, clear focus. They usually all settle blurry back into the background, murmuring vague entrities from beyond the event horizon of my consciousness. Fortunately Susan hammered on me long and hard enough, forcing this 'Dilemma' to come into clear focus. He had to be strong enough to bust through the wall of defense that I put up against her entrities to actualize into our Universe but he has indeed arrived. He is also the dark king in the chess set we've been carving for 30 years. The 29th piece. Three more to go and we'll have a hell of a party. We'll invite everyone who has had the taste, humor and pocketbooks deep enough to buy and live with a Doodleysquat to come. It'll be the chess game of the century. Hopefully played at Bilboa.
'The Dilemma' is fashioned from rare 'Split Mountain Red Alabaster' from the heart of the Anza Borrego Desert in California and High Desert Green Alabaster from the Kodachrome Basin, Utah. The tail and the head horn are precious ironwood roots. The legs, the neckcap and back thorns are carved from High
Desert Shaggy Barked Juniper, Arizona. The necklace and penis are Quartz crystals covered with a secondary growth of tiny Amythest crystals. The eyes are a rare form of pure Bismuth crystal clusters.
He's magnificent, quite pleased with himself about being here and happy to perform the service of helping people face all their dilemmas with a certain amount of levity.
Alabaster Flowers on Bowl - 14" High X 12" Wide X 9" Deep - $8,500
Alabaster is the only stone on the planet that can describe flowers that look like they’re alive, like they’re blowing in the wind. These handcarved, rare colored and translucent Alabaster flowers, with stems and leaves, are growing out of a handcarved, translucent white Alabaster bowl.
The piece is mounted atop a gorgeous burled Walnut stand. Our stone carving techniques are not just subtractive, they are also additive. This allows us to combine different forms and materials and also to expand the dimensions of a piece. In this piece, the flowers and leaves dissemble for ease of shipping.
